Hoping I can make it this year. Hopefully with my fixed up fj.
Update for the Rally.
Come ride the Ozark Mountain roads of Northen Arkansas. I just blocked 5 double occupancy rooms at the Marble Falls Resort and Restaurant, formerly the Hub Motorcycle resort. $65.00 per night with a single queen, $85.00 For 2 queen beds. I hope you can make it this year. 21-23 June 2019. When making reservations, mention that you are with the FJowners.com group for this rate.

I'm committed elsewhere for this one, but just wanted to throw it out there...Fred knows a good motorcycle road when he sees one and last years central rally was evidence of that!! Spectacular venue, amazing roads (Push Mountain!!!), great FJ riders in attendance and a ton of laughs. Arkansas? Seriously?...YES, Arkansas!!! If you're on the fence, do it. :good2:
I would love to make this rally but, it's so close to the WCR. Maybe you could change the dates to later in the year and more people will be able to attend? Just a thought.
Thanks Fred for doing this.
Kurt
Where else can you find a Visitor Bureau that promotes and advertises motorcycle riding In the area??

Arkansas does. Come join us this year at the Central FJ Rally.
People always talk about the Tail of the Dragon. I had a blast riding the 11 miles at a top speed of about 55mph and staying in 2nd gear the whole way. The photo is the 341 Market on the North end of Push Mountain Road, AR341. This is Dan McCoy's (giantkiller) favorite road in the whole country. Cap'n Ron was impressed last year when he rode it in both directions. 30 miles with nearly zero traffic at triple digit speeds.
Fred
So you got me curious enough to fire up Google Maps. Are you referring to 341 from Hwy 14W to Hwy 201?

Yes, that is the road. I forgot to mention.... The pavement is glass smooth with no tar snakes.
Well then it's definitely not in California. Beware of our roads when you come West next month.
Joe
Yep push mountain road. I've ridden it several times since the first central rally. On my way to visit my brothers in OKC. Definitely an Fj road. If I ever get my house done I'll get to more rallies. The central rally is not to be missed.

I lived in Southern California for 7 years back in the 90's and rode many of the well known roads. I also made the 2014 WCR in Willits.
Fred
Just to be clear Fred, I was referring to the deplorable condition of our highways.
Joe
Central Rally attendees, here's a conundrum: I'm very much interested in joining the Arkansas Fj fest. However, the timing of the event is such that I'll be on route to the inlaws in Chicago in a truck, hence potentially arriving at an Fj rally without an Fj. This is somewhat sucky, so although it's a big ask; anyone got a donor bike for the weekend?
Search your hearts and garages, Andy
Andy,
I can haul my West Virginia bike home with me when I come home for the rally. It's a 1987 Yamaha Radian, I've installed a new pair of tires and SS brake hoses. The only issue that I can see is if you are more than about 5'8" tall you're going to look like a circus bear riding a tricycle. I'm 5'6" with a 30" inseam and it's almost too tight for me. A set of Buell low footpegs are on my list. Let me know if you are interested, otherwise I'll leave it here in WV.
Joe
Joe,
A most altruistic offer, but I fear puts you to considerable inconvenience. Googling West Virginia to marble falls I see its about 800 miles, which is a bit of a tow. (And then back).
I'm not bothered about looking odd on it, which I doubtless would being 6ft and a little bit. I'm pretty flexible, so comfort would be OK for a day. As we say in England, never look a gift horse in the mouth.
Sooo, let's just hang on with that option. Maybe an Akansawrian has a solution that is more logistically carbon footprint friendly. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm...
Andy
Last year, riding with the FJ group, bad weather had washed significant gravel onto most of the corners. One of the non-FJ riders in my group hit a large rock and bent his front rim bad enough that the bead popped. The bike had to be retrieved by truck (a 6-hour ordeal). It was such a disappointment that I vowed to not make the trek to Push Mountain again.
Well, a year goes by and you tend to remember the good stuff and supress the bad. I was on Push Mountain (AR341) last Friday with a group of 4 riders. Initially we were concerned about gravel since the weather was raining up to Thursday of last week. Friday was a glorious weather day and not a pebble was to be found on the immaculate surface of AR341.
When we reached the 341 Market (pictured above with my '85) the lady said the ARDOT sweeper truck swept the entire road just a few hours earlier. There is also new asphault almost all the way to 201.
You guys will have fun.
It is with just a little bit of frustration that I must announce that I will not be attending the Central FJ Rally this year. I just discovered that the boss is going to be on vacation in Europe the week I was planning on being home in Arkansas. You can figure out the rest........Ya' all have fun in the hills.
Joe,
My next trip to Arkansas is June 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8.
Will you be in Arkansas that week?
David,
Those dates will work at this time. I will put in to be off that week and see how it goes.
Dr. Raforth,
I will indeed be back in Arkansas during the 1st week of June. Looking forward to riding with you and your cohorts from out your way.
Joe
Cool Joe!
We've cut it back to 5, 6, 7, and 8. Push MTN was awesome back in April.
That was the second trip in a row that I didn't get to do Upper 123. Looking forward to spending some quality miles on that road.
David,
We will spend all the time you like on Upper 123. I'm good with that. :pardon:The only day that I have anything planned for those days is on the 8th, we are celebrating my son's birthday on that day, before I have to head back to West Virginia.
The Rally is a week and a half away. There are still rooms available.
If you live in the Midwest or the mid South come on and ride to Arkansas. There are some of the best twisty roads to ride in the country. If you have never been to a Rally, the experience is something not to forget. Call, make a reservation and tell them that you are with the FJowners.com group.
Fred
The Rally is in a few days. There has not been a lot of interest, but I will be there with my daughter.
The weather looks good for ride days on Friday and Saturday.
Throw a leg over the bike and come join me in the Ozarks.
