Title: 1000 Exup rear shock for the 1TX
Post by: Vilike on January 27, 2019, 07:05:12 AM
Hi guys !

I was so lucky i bought 3x FZR 1000 Exup rear shocks yesterday. All three are in good condition. As the rear shock of my 1TX is completely dead, i tought what if i try to replace it with one of the 3 Exup shocks. I have the linkage for one shock too.

So what modifications do i need to do on my FJ to swap the shocks ?

ThanX !

The shock can be made to work. A few things to take note of.

1. The FZR shock has a Clevis style lower mount. This is for a dog bone style linkage. Your 1TX uses a scissor link style. Mounting a 3CV (88-90) swing arm would solve this issue.

2. Shock upper eye mount inside diameter. Is it the same as the FJ Shock? Along with that is spacer length that centers the shock in the frame mount.

3. Length of the FZR shock verses the FJ shock.

4. Finally the spring rate of the FZR spring. May need a stiffer spring to account for the heavier weight of the FJ.

I hope this helps

Sell all three and get the RPM shock.
