Post by: Motofun on November 29, 2019, 01:11:45 PM
Way early but I was just informed by SWMBO that I'm not going racing...in fact I'm going to go to Boone!  Oh well, I guess I'll just to have to make the best of it... :yahoo:
First world problems...I know.
Just to confirm the schedule is the week before and including the 5/16-17 weekend.

I'm crossing my fingers that Jeff and I get to come up....the horse associations shut down ALL competitions and as ya'll know that's one of my sources of income. So I'm still hoping we can come. Plus this darn virus stuff.....

Read yesterday Washington state closed all the campgrounds.  Hope NC doesn't make the same move for your rallly-goers.

I'm still trying to get a clear picture of how NC is doing.  Currently they are following the national SAH order until the end of April but after that it's not clear what the Gov will do.  I tried to find out if camp grounds were part of the "must close" order...no dice, couldn't get any info but I doubt they are considered essential.  Fingers remain crossed.

Actually the KOA is open.... since there are people who full time RV they need a place to go.

as far as the actual numbers go NC is in good shape to open up but it remains to be seen what will happen.

I'm considered "essential" so its actually been great business for me this early in the season but I can tell you there are a butt ton of people not working/stuck at home with the kids  who are ready to throw down in the streets if this goes into May.

our stats for the ENTIRE state as of today

Laboratory-Confirmed Cases   Deaths   Completed Tests   Currently Hospitalized   Number of Counties
        5,465                              131       70,917                      452                                      93

I actually have been emailing JoAnn about this. Her recommendation is we cancel this year's rally. She doesn't know what is going to happen, if only self contained rv's will be allowed or what.

I lost ALOT of horse show work because that is shut down. The fish farm, well now that's another story.

I'll be waiting to hear what ya'll are gonna do.

I just re-read the e-mail and now I'm not sure about the cancelation.  It appears that it applied to "early" May and some sort of concert that takes place in the Boone area.  I'll ask JoAnn directly if I can get a phone call in to her.
This is the e-mail....

"In view of local COVID-19 regulations that are in place that includes not allowing rentals of less than thirty days we are cancelling early May reservations with no penalty.   We regret having to do this but believe it is better to act early to give you an opportunity to make other arrangements.  If you would like to reschedule for the concert next year we can move your reservation forward.  Please accept our sincere apologies for the cancellation but we want everyone healthy and looking forward to future camping adventures.  Thank you for your understanding...JoAnn"

Doesn't look Good right now for staying in NC at all. Tennessee governor is opening up his sate 1 May but the following counties are not included, Shelby, Madison, Hamilton, Knox, and Sullivan. Tellico Plains is in Monroe county if your wondering.

Well I have the time blocked out on my calendar so if it opens up and anyone else decides they're going, we will be there.

Well, yesterday would have been the big Saturday ride up to Damascus to watch (smell?) the Hippies....Instead Nancy and I took advantage of a decent spring day to take a local tour.  There is some good news, there were a lot of people and bikes out and about.  We happen to live in a State where the Governor is taking hints from Kim Jong Un on how to limit freedoms but we serfs are having none of it.  There is hope!
