Cafe Racer project teaser (non FJ)
« on: May 05, 2014, 09:03:03 PM »

Just a teaser..........................I'm nowhere near ready to begin the project yet.

My next-door neighbor is putting his house on the market at the end of the week.......... negative
He invited me over after work today to poke around his shed..............
So far he gave me the frame, engine, oil tank, and swingarm..............Tomorrow, I go back for wheels, forks, head, rocker cover, and side covers..................etc.

That's hardly a clue, all the Pommy bikes from the 50's and 60's had that exact same sticker on the frame.

How about a close up of some obscure part specific to the bike for us to guess?

Bones, you are very close......................but about a decade off.......

It's a '65  yahoo

I've got a lot of research to do, and a bunch of parts/knowledge gathering...................But I'm planning a 750 big-bore engine for it hopefully............ bomb

Yes Sir!
"Birmingham Small Arms"

My neighbor has 7 BSA frames, and a Yamaha XS? in pieces, with boxes and boxes of parts in his shed.......................We went through all the frames, and some of them were cracked, some of them welded......... We finally settled on two good frames (a '65 and a '67)
I chose the '65 cause the shape of the back of the frame lends itself to a Cafe build slightly better............
He is quite the character.............We get along awesome, and I'll miss him when he moves...........

This is his 650 Royal Star. He has let me ride it on a couple of occasions  good

It's a trip! A bit confusing at first cause the shifter is on the right  dash2

I've had many BSA's including a 650 Golden Flash as my first legal road bike, I believe it stands "Bastard Stopped Again".

""Bastard Stopped Again"

That's kinda what I was intending to say, but after the story and pictures  I'm happy for the fella. There is a British rally that rides through Shady Valley each year during our spring rally. Many of those bike are amazing and sound really cool cruising down the road..

Very nice. I had a 441 Victor for a while...a bitch to start, but pretty cool.
