G'day All. Have visited a few times but have now registered.
I've been an FJ owner for a few years now. My first FJ was a black 1988 which I bought to do a bit of touring with the missus. It had 86000klm on it and when it got to 120k I decided to update to the bike I have now. Its a 1995 which I bought in Nov 2006 (Wow! Eight years gone by already). It had 36k on the clock and is now up to 68k. Except for a clutch slave kit in both, neither of these bikes have given any trouble at all. Just service and ride.
As of a month ago, I now have another FJ, a 1984 1100 - #50K001010. This one has been left out in the weather since last registered Oct 1998. It was basically complete but missing its belly fairing. There was white fur over most of the once polished alloy and lots of surface rust on the frame. The engine was stuck but after a week soaking in ATF/acetone mix in the cylinders it freed up easily. Most of the electrcis still worked and after hooking it up to a battery pack it fired right up and quickly settled into an even idle. At this point I had not even touched the carbs! Cool.
My aim is to have this bike roadworthy and registered on a budget of $1000. Cost price was $300 and included spare f & r wheels.
At the moment I am overhauling the brakes and here is where I feel I am need of a little forum advice and have a few questions which I'll hold over for the appropriate thread.
Cheers.

Yep it's a nice spot here. besides my bikes my other activity is racing on Formula windsurfers. I know about the FJ annual. May get there one year but other stuff often clashes. Will be in Mexico March next year. I'm also the NSW VJMC registrar for Historic registration.
I should add the rest of my "stable" to my profile.

Hi Krusty

I just joined too, being a new owner. Must have ridden down past your way on the return trip with the bike yesterday. Beaut weather for a cruise, although in my haste to get home and show the missus what it was all about I took the tedious route back from Kempsie, but called in to the National Motorcycle Museum at Nabiac. Well worth a visit for those that havn't been yet, and the hotel does cheap $8.80 lunches !

I also posted my VJMC application off to SA last week, so you will perhaps see it ?
Still thinking of something..................

G'day Jools. Noticed your membership is now updated on my list for NSW. Welcome to the VJMC. I handle Historic reg for members who don't have a local rep to do it. Bike needs to be 1985 or earlier to qualify so if happen to need any info let me know.

Hi Krusty

yes the FJ falls outside the dating bracket.
I also have a 73 RD350 and an 84 RZ350 both in final stages of restoration, plus a DT3 in bits on the shelf.
I'll need to get around to that one day too !

G'day,

welcome to the mix, looks like you have a hige collection, and I guess a forgiving wife...

I joined the VJMC a few years back with the view to getting a plate, just never got around to it.  Luckily in Victoria we can red plate an 85' bike.

Lots of great tips on the FJ in here, especially the 1100's.

Cheers, Gareth
