Here is an interesting option on an FJ for sale in the San Diego area

http://sandiego.craigslist.org/ssd/mcy/4799646518.html

Fred
I cannot understand the multitude of bikes for sale stripped of front fenders, painted flat black or some equally ugly color and called a bobber or cafe racer. Then the sellers think they are worth 1000-3000 dollars more than the original. Maybe I'm just of an older generation.  Dave

I have to agree. I like well done customs or ones that are headed that way but these rat bikes are certainly not my taste. But that is just me. As far as how much it is worth, that is between a willing seller and buyer.  My brother in law claims "there is an ass for every seat".  If the seller wants to sell then at some point the price will meet what a buyer will pay.

I haven't seen an FJ bobbed that I've liked. The frame, in my mind, doesn't lend itself well to that. I think I've seen some bobbers with an FJ motor that were pretty cool, but the factory frame just doesn't work. Before I put all the work into bringing mine back from the 90's, I was considering it seriously, but thank God I resisted. I spent some time looking at some bobbers that were pretty nice from a place in North Carolina called Cycle Crazy dot com that does some pretty nice rebuilds on modern cruisers.

Here's a 2007 Suzuki Boulevard they bobbed:

Modern brakes, shaft drive, fuel injection, and badass looks.

Here is one that just came up. I don't anything about it.  http://sacramento.craigslist.org/mcy/4824252606.html Claims it is a FJ 1200 1994... 1340.00.

Monkey,
Up today on Craigslist - An 86 with 72,ooo, in lake county (that's a little north of me) - the plastics look good, but no front mudguard - the price is keen at $600.
Make one good one out of the two? However, most of the bits for that idea will doubtless come from your bike.
Food for thought,

Mark,

With this one you can recoup the cost by selling the un-obtainable FJ1100 OEM mirrors
