Does anyone in the US know of a store that makes custom kickstands? I have a bike( Honda Shadow 1100) that l would like to get a longer kickstand for.

How much extension do you need?
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Hey Tom, I assume you've already Google searched....I noticed lots of stuff for Harley's and dirt/adventure bikes, but little for everyone else.
I looked at the cost of having a longer FJ side stand C&C cut out of billet steel and the $600 price was unacceptable. I just added a 3/4" thick pad on my existing stand.
Many FJ'ers have cut and welded a extention piece to their side stands. They pick up a used side stand on eBay and between their existing sidestand and the eBay stand, they have enough length to get to what they need.
The welding is the tricky part. A expert welder is needed (IMHO)
If a butt weld is used, the weld should be reinforced with bar stock

Perhaps you can convert the sidestand mounting point on your Honda Shadow over to the Harley style and use the Harley aftermarket side stands? That's what I would look into...Frame welding I'm comfortable with...welding on the sidestands gives me the heebie jeebies (bad dreams)....but that's just me.

Did you try asking the question over that the Honda Shadow forum? http://www.hondashadow.net/

The easiest way to extend it that far without breaking the bank is to cut the stand in the middle and slide a length of tubing over the two ends, over lapping by as much as possible, then weld in place.
Should cost less than $5 and will be strong.

I was surprised that no one even took a shot at a joke on this one. I made it so easy
