Hi Pat, the zx14 Axle is 25 mm; same as the honda CBR 600RR. The yamaha r6 r1 are 22 MM.
Those are the rear axles; I will need to pull the wheel from the front.....

Don't do that Jeff, no worries, I can look it up....
I have a YZF1000 T-Ace rear swing arm, just wondering if the axles are the same. I have a YZF750 front with the 17mm axle. I'm sure the ZX14 axle is larger
I really like those ZX wheels.
Aaaaargh....Must stop....

Tips for new FJ owners: 1) Don’t have an Owners Handbook? You need one: https://tinyurl.com/z4s6x2) Replace your oem rubber brake lines. Do it now. They are long over due. 3) Safety wire the petcock elbow on the ‘84-‘87 FJ’s. Do it now. https://tinyurl.com/99zp8ufh4) ATGATT: Skin grafts suck.

Hi Dan, Yes was thinking of getting the tapers turned off; I need to get into the forks anyhow...the springs seem very soft.
That's why I decided to use the 2007-8 gsxr 1000 forks. They were said to be over sprung stock. That alot of racer's were fitting softer springs. I actually had to back off the settings on the forks. To get the sag right. I would have used the newer big piston forks. But you couldn't slide them down far enough in the lower triple clamp. They tapered off the soon. I've seen since that some triple trees have a dropped lower clamp. If I hadn't already done these I would have checked into whether it is enough for the big piston forks. Oh well. Great work. On your bike. Dan, The early ZX14 fork springs are soft. 2012 and up have stiffer springs. [/quote]

Pat, The zx14 wheels are actually pretty common as one the mods the zx14 guys like to do is switch to Z1000 wheels because the z1000 wheels are lighter. I understand it is a bolt on. On the other hand the z1000 guys like the zx14 calipers as they are "better". Not sure about the difference, but I can say the Zx14 brakes are really good.

Finally "complete". 2008 ZX14 Front end complete, (including switch gear and radial masters). Out back 2008 ZX14 wheel, 2008 CBR 600 swing arm. ZX14 exhaust...."she's got big cans!"

Looks great. Is the Swingarm the same length as the fj. The older r1 swing arm is 1 1/2" longer.(if I remember right) so it'll help keep the front of the 1350 and the turbo bike on the ground. Rather than make it light like the shorter ones(t ace?). Man I wish I could get this house done so I can get back to all the fun projects I have started. Great job going with the unknown. Showing some more alternatives

Great job Jeff, I like the fact you've gone the road less travelled with Kwaka bits. You now have the only Yamasaki in Canada. Noel

Amazing project. Keep us up on how it rides, or any tweaks you may do to it. A couple of things have me wondering: What's with the yellow John Deere? Can't you go to jail for that? The mysterious horse and donkey decals? Whatupwiddat?

The mysterious horse and donkey decals? Whatupwiddat? It rides and handles very well. MovinOn George gave me a rear spring an it is a bit too stiff, but other than that it feels great. The decal was on the bike when I got it....I thought it was interesting...and so did you! The John Deere is my little buddy named BackSaver.

Hi Dan, The 2008 CBR 600 swing arm is very close to the same length...as I recall about 3/4 inch longer. Biggest mistake I made was not going with the clip on bars like you and Fred have used. In the end I spent at least as much farting around with ZX14 bar risers and then a modified top triple and aftermarket handlebars.

Hi Jeff.
I know this is a really old thread but I am interested in your CBR600RR swingarm conversion so I guess I can just add my commenst/questions to this one.
I have a 2004 version of that CBR swingarm that I'd like to use on my FJ and avoiding the FJ shock mount on the frame is the goal (same as yours).
What shock did you end up going with - was it the CBR600RR shock or some other one? Also, did you swap out the 600RR dog bones for the soupy version or did you end up staying with the Honda? Thanks
Cheers - Andrew
