G'day form Adelaide, new owner , old bike.
« on: February 01, 2010, 05:13:04 AM »

Hi all,
I recently bought an FJ1200 that has been on this earth from 1988 up until now and hopefully will be on this earth for a lot longer.
I'd like to Make a few minor changes like add panniers, raise up the handlebars and fit a larger screen but otherwise, apart from being chain driven the FJ suits my purposes very well.

I've often been asked, 'What do you old folks do now that you're retired'?

“Well. I'm fortunate to have a chemical engineering background, and one of the things I enjoy most is turning beer, wine, Scotch, and margaritas into urine.”

Hi Pat,

Welcome to the madhouse.  All the things you want to do are easily accomplished.  And the chain is really not much of a hassle - just make and fit a chain oiler and you can usually forget about it for a long time.
Funny thing about the FJ, they just don't age.  Still amongst the quick bikes and the styling hangs in just fine.  Swap the rear wheel so you can use modern rubber and you're set for another 20 years.

Cheers,

Morning Pat, welcome to FJ land. I don't think we have anyone else from SA, but there are more and more Aussies joining up.

Cheers
