Hi everybody!
I am new to this forum. I was riding for 10 years. I have  a Honda, a Kawasaki in my garage and now first Yamaha.  :good2:
He is an old school boy 1990 FJ1200. It's not in  a well condition but I think I can resurrect it soon. Hope you give me a hand to make that dream comes true.

Welcome to the mad house :). You picked the best year !  I also have a 1990. Give us a run down on the condition when get a chance.  Also if you can tell us where you are located.  Check out the rally's and have a good read in the files section.  There isn't much about an FJ that someone here doesn't know the answer to. Some have owned there's since new and most seem to do there own maintenance and repair.

Life isn't about having the best, but about making the best of what you have...

1990 FJ 1200

Thanks for your kindly welcome. The purchase not complete for now because of some paper issues, I'll receive the beast next weekend. I have only doubts about some cracks at the crankcase. My project is completely dissassamble the frame and motor, clean and fix all the bolts and bits. etc. I post some pictures of that crack part. Give me some idea! I'll be appreciated for your help!

Welcome to FJownership. That crack looks more cosmetic than a real problem. The cover is not original. Both details are likely caused from a crash that shears off the cap and damages the case flange. A similar thing happened on my '86 when I low-sided on the Right side. If it is not leaking oil then the issue is only cosmetic.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

'89 Stormy Blue - Suits my Dark Side

My 1100 has exactly the same issue. It does leak a small amount of oil straight onto my boot and engine casing, and is more annoying than anything. There is a blind plug for the crank behind the cap. Check its integrity. They are cheap and relatively easy to replace.

I get the bike and tear down imeediately to see the reality :) There are some issues of course but I decide to make it custom and fairings are not important.
Engine is not a ruin, but smokes  a little on compression (I found it while my collegue riding and it throws white smoke for a second between hard shiftings )
I don't complain it too much, but the previous owners play with the electrical cables and some of them seems problematic. :ireful:

Now I dissasamble some custom lights and leds, clean the cords.
I gotta go step by step, don't wanna mess up the harness I mean it's easy to disassamble but at the end I have to put the things in some place :)

I will send new photos by the time.. I will be happy to hear ideas and ofcourse I gonna ask thousand questions while I go deep

That appears to be some awfully nice flooring to be tearing apart a motorcycle over. :scratch_one-s_head:
