I used the gsxr triples with the stem from the fj triples. I had the base of the stem built up with weld then machined down to fit the gsxr bottom triple and pressed in. The top needed a collar made to fit the gsxr triple top. Axiom-r did a really good write up of the. R1 front. Almost exactly the same for the gsxr. Except he bought after market extensions that use a set screw. The ones I had made have 3pinch bolts. Alittle over kill. But I would rather have them tight, and secure.. So I had these made.

Did you happen to take any photos of your work?  Would love to see them if you do.  And the forks are short enough to need the extensions as you and Pat were talking about?  Did you do the rear swingarm and tire as well?

I'm not that good at the write ups or pic's. If you look up axiom-r s write up. It's got a lot of detail. And other than being r1 components. Is exactly (almost)what I did with the gsxr front and will probably be what you have to do with the 1100 parts. The Swingarm he used had alot of work to make it work. I'm currently working on Putting 2003 r1 Swingarms on the 1350 and the Turbo. I think it was candieandy that did the write up on the 2003 Swingarm. He also did a very good job.
I'll see if I can post some pics.
Can't get the pictures to work the way I used to post them.

I have done the R1 swing arm (2008) as well and attempted 2008 R6 and R6s.  The R1 has under-slung bracing but requires narrowing to fit in FJ frame.  The R6s (and R6) fit the frame without any machining but the over slung bracing interferes with the brake master and sub-frame.  Both the R6 swing arms have a problem with the shock top mount as the shock cannot be angled forward enough as it interferes with the hole in the swing arm.  Monkey Mark is working on a design for a new top mount that may address this.  The later R1 (ie 2008 series) is offset left for the under tail exhaust.  The 3xw shock mount is also offset left so they match up pretty good;  installation would be more of a challenge with pre-3xw models.  A few things to think about with any swing arm conversion.  The real limiting factors are the FJ top shock mount and the width of the over slung bracing.

Have fun problem solving...Jeff
