Greetings!

Anyone know the line lengths for the clutch line, and from the front brake master to the blue spot brakes?

My front lines have always been a bit long and they are just bare braided stainless.  I'm wanting to get a clutch line and some nicer looking and not so long front brake lines.

Thanks!

I am using FZ1 lines on my 86. I can read on the package one is 850mm and the other 800mm, and they are just long enough. Double lines from the  front master to the bluespots. The rear was too long for the FJ.  Picked them up on eBay a couple of years ago from some dude in Japan. Was a little nervous when I ordered them, but when they showed up I was very pleased. They also spell "brake" funny.
10K km's so far and no probs. They are aluminum, not stainless.

For the clutch and rear I broke down and bought Galfers. I couldn't find any one around to make me a set.

Hey Garth, I'm in the process of doing the same with the clutch after buying a new master cylinder and slave overhaul kit. I'm on the lookout for a local machine shop to make up a clutch line - I know George B. found someone in Sacramento to do his.
A word of caution on the fronts - my blue spots joined differently to the originals meaning a bit of a twist was needed to get all to fit together - the banjo bolts were quarter turn off. So far so good, but I would imagine my twisting may cause the lines to fracture one day???? So far so good.
Remember to start this job in good time for the rally - it's coming up fast - oh yes!

Just measured a "spare" clutch line -- looks like the stock clutch "line" is about 42 1/2 inches long.

 Hey neat,
I received my new custom made lines today and just put them on!Bike is a '91, R1 master cyl, so mounting is turned 90 deg but length is the same. Blue dot calipers. 31" and 33" for front lines. this is 1/2" shorter than the 800mm and 850mm previously mentioned (divide by 25.4 to get inches). They look just right to me, a smooth bend behind the fork at full droop. Have  pics, working on uploading, maybe tomorrow! No test ride, snowing. I have a pair of R1 lines 27" and 29", no way they reach.
Clutch line was 43", could be shorter but looks great. I tried to err on the long side, easier to zip tie slack than stretch those lines! An inch shorter on all 3 would work if you like it tight. Did I just type that?
Got the lines from that eBay site Rennsportautoparts in Ontario, very cooperative about making what I asked for and cheap- $81 for 4 lines w/ banjo bolts 'n washers shipped. Quality to be determined, time is the test.

Doug, just saw the pic in the gallery.........they look mickey mouse mate.
Is that the front fender I see lurking in the background?

FJZ1 1200 - It'll do me just fine.
Timing has much to do with the success of a rain dance.

 Harvy,
Sharp eye, yes that's the fender, mercifully undamaged. Mickey mouse = good? Because much as bad is good, cool is hot, and no means yes (oh wait, no MEANS No!) a mickey mouse job here ain't much compliment. Either way, thanks for checking out the pic.

Harvy

Yes Doug.... an Australianism.... Mickey Mouse = Grouse......which is probably also an Australianism.....

  OK Harvy, deeper we go.
Round here the only grouse we have is ruffed grouse.
We call 'em partridge.
Scares the shit out of you when they fly up as you're walking in the woods.
If you recover quickly enough and get off a good shot they taste excellent.

What were we talking about?

Thanks for the line lengths.  Very helpful.

I've got the YZF 600 calipers so my banjo is on top of the caliper, plus I am running the FJR master.. so 1 inch shorter should be about perfect.

Harvy

Doug....I believe we got grouse from the Poms......here is some more for you to digest.
