Well it looks like Casa Lowe is becoming a home for lost causes. About to shell out some funds and but an Fj1200 Jigsaw puzzle. Just got to get it from Sydney to Grafton now. Time to do a bit of rearrangement in the Oily Rag Garage.  :wacko3:

She was screaming for help. I had to do something. I was going to buy her for a parts bike, but I think she may have a future yet. Can really only tell when I see her in person.

Looks like a cool project. It reminds me of my bike when I first brought it home in all of its boxes, milk crates and tubs.  I'm seeing most of,  if not all of the import parts present in your pics. Man, how happy I would have been to look into a tub and see the four banks of carbs all still joined at the hip. Mine where dissected/robbed and tossed into an old plastic bag.

Looks like you may be able to recoup some of your investment. I see 2 sets of '86/'87 1tx air scoops. If they are in good to excellent condition, they could bring $50.00US each.

Hey!

In that box of parts I think I saw a rubber swing arm guard for 1985 1100 FJ? If that's the case, would you think of selling it to me (if it's not toast)?

wow you have good eyes. I didn't see that in there. If it is as you say, it will be heading straight for my 84 FJ. Sorry to disappoint Balky

balky1, I hope good fortune smiles upon you for your good deed in spotting that rare and hard to find part. That part does not need need to be as complex as it currently is. It can be replaced with two pieces, one on top and the other on the bottom. It prevents the chain from cutting into the swing arm. Some thin Delrin (UHMW or Nylon) strips about .08 inch or 2 mm thick (minimum) bonded or fastened where the chain touches is all you need.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Probably it will end up that way. Since I'm in no hurry to find this (my old one is still on, cracked on place, but holding on), I'll give it a try when I see some online. Or will just put and modify the newer style guard. At least those are cheaper than the one I need.  :wacko3:

Hey Alan

It is a diamond in the rough.  I enquired with the owner about 12 months ago about the tank. He told me he would sell the whole thing plus extra plastics and a second engine for $750. Taken me 12 months to get around to doing the deal.
There a second fj in the pictures.  His 85 FJ1100.  No I don't get that. He also has a vmax and a Harley.
I haven't actually eye balled the bike yet, so there could be more hidden treasures yet.

Nice pick up Mr Lowe, definately worth grabbing and even if you don't do anything straight away with it, you will be able to strip it down and rebuild at your leisure. ( my ongoing plans for the Project t '92 :). )
