So what is the stock needle clip position on 1984 1100 carbs? I am supposed to raise needle one slot , right now its in 3rd slot from top of needle,I assume there are 5 slots. I do not know if anything was done before so thats why I need to know which slot clip is in originally.

You have after market needles. But normally the center position is near the stock position. However, do you have stock pipes? Stock air box? Answer this before you mess around with it.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

I gave Randy all my info and got the jets and stuff for it from him, pretty sure they are stock needles,he said to raise needles one notch,so according to that statement,he must know they are notched needles. Its an 84 with flat bottom slides.

European and Australian FJ's have the notched needles and North American FJ's only have a sinlge placement and need to be shimmed (or replaced with notched itams) to adjust. The middle (3rd slot) is standard.
