Bush #21, FJ 1100

Hi!
Does anyone have an idea where to buy or what to do with busted bush #21 on '85 swing arm, part 90386-20131-00? Shipping to Croatia?
I noticed some free play on mine. Probably it would be a good idea to change thrust covers also?

A bit of FJ history:
One of the problems early '84/85 FJ owners had was keeping grease in those nylon bushings, especially in wet climates. Many complaints.
Yamaha listened so starting in 1986 they installed needle roller bearings in the swing arm linkage, a definate improvement. Many dealers installed these in the '84/85 FJ's.

As you can see, Yamaha discontinued the nylon bushings for good reason. They suck.
So I recommend removing *all* those nylon bushings and installing the needle bearings from the '86/87 swing arm.

Can you give me the part numbers for the bearings? Are those bearings the same for all spots where bushings come? Are they just plug-and-play or are some mods needed?

Those are the swingarm bearings. What he needs are the linkage nylon bushings.

I gave up finding the linkage bushings and fitted the linkage arm from an early 1200 (86-87) that has the needle bearings. The needle bearings doesn't fit the 1100 linkage arm.

I have a document that lists the needle bearings needed (they are common bearings available from bearing suppliers) but not sure how I can upload it?

Let me see if I understood that document of yours correctly: first picture is my linkage with the bushings I need under 1a. You say that a bearing from FJ1200 ( 93315-32057-00) fits right in instead of the bushings?
Additionally, every bearing has 2 oil seals then these dust caps come on?
Collar stays the same?

Thanks! I'm waiting for 4everFJ's answer to this, but it seems to me (according to this schematics of his) the bearings fit instead of the bushings.

No, the bearings doesn't fit the 1100 linkage arm. You will need a 86-87 linkage arm.

I bought one (pretty easy to find on Ebay) and fitted new bearings. All bearings needed are in the document with their common names.

That is the only way to convert an 1100 to needle roller bearings in the suspension linkage.

One more thing now comes to my mind. Is it possible to put the whole FJ 1200 '86/'87 swing arm on FJ 1100 (i.e. is it the same width and length as 1100's)?

The swing arm for the 85 and the 86 is the same part number. The relay arm and arm 1 are different part numbers and the roller bearings will not fit the 85 parts.

It may be more worthwhile to swap to the 3CV swing arm....

Again with this. Does anyone know, or has a one to measure, the dimensions of the bushing #21 (metric please). I found out there are some factories that are making them out of more quality materials than the OEMs were (dirt/water resistant even).

I keep perpetuating this subject, but I need to add a remark for a future reference if someone should use this thread. In the file "Suspension linkage", page 2, oil seals marked with #3 are 18x24x4 if we talk about FJ 1100, bush type linkage. I just removed my old OEM seal and that's what it says. I was wandering why the new one (18x25x4) is going in so hard.
