Thanks a lot everyone at this meeting, the ride was fantastic, without doubt some of the best roads I've been on. I had my incident where my bike would activate the starter motor everytime I turned on the ignition, turned out to be a stuck starter button (tank bag pushed it in) Thanks to everyone who helped find the culprit, especially Richard.

I hope I can make it to Mudgee but at this stage I can't commit.
First major bike in my life was a Mach III widow maker.
My Second permanent bike 1978 Z1R (owned since Dec 1977)
My Third permanent bike is the 89 FJ12 - nice and fast
Forth bike 89 FJ12 my totally standard workhorse
81 GPZ1100 hybrid - what a bike, built to sell but I can't part with it

Hey all. Thought I would put up a ride report. International reader will have to Google locations mentioned. Not much in the way if photos or video this time.....sorry
Left Grafton Friday morning. Went Casino, Kyogle through Uki, where I hardly saw another vehicle, to Murwillumbah. I dropped into tweed to catch up with a mate. Took Terranora road back to Murbah and up through Natural Bridge. Again hardly a car.
The bike is sounding sweet as I go around to Canungra. Quick bite to eat an off to Jimboomba, an on Mt Lindsey highway heading towards Brisbane. It was about this time the weather gave me a big F$%k you.  The storm hit at about the place I was to turn off. I missed this turn and had to take refuge under a bridge while it pissed down and blew a few dogs off their chains.
Now that I have missed my turn, I have to take the Logan motorway. Saw the aftermath of 2 rear enders in the next 2km. Glad I was under a bridge. Out to Ipswich, turn right and off to Wivenhoe dam. I love this area. Just one sweeper after another.  Then Somerset dam. Another nice bit of tar. Tight windy stuff
The sun is starting to get low in the sky and I am not looking forward to A) riding in the dark and B) trying to find somewhere I have never been before. So I set the GPS on the phone and on I press.
I hit the foot hills of the sunny coast hinterland right on dark. The GPS is set for Melaney. The lady says turn left here, so I turn. I am on a road that is real Skippy country. I catch up to a car and stick like glue to his arse. I make it Melaney and turn towards Mapleton.  40mind later, after some slow riding and wrong turns I made it to my accommodation. I'm knackered. Two beers and bed.
Next day, I meet up with the FJ guys at a cafe for brecky. A few photos and we line up to leave. One of the guys not riding asks if he can borrow my phone to video everyone leaving. I say no probs I organise with him to ride of and double back to grab the phone. Cool all set. I do this turn around again.......and....where the hell did they all go? Chase after them for 20 mins. No sight. Stop and call one of the riders. I am on the wrong road. I ride all over the hills trying to meet up,with no clue of the roads. Having fum though. Phone up again and find out where lunch is. Google it and in the GPS. By the way...WOW... I love these roads. We meet up at Bellview Creek Cafe. A bit of a bike riders Mecca. Good tucka. We head off again to go to the pub. Heading up Obi Obi  road, which should have been amazing except for a bloody 4wd who would not let anyone past up the best bit. Asshole!!! 30kph and all over the road with 15 bikes and 4 cars lined up behind him.
Good night with good company and too Mich alcohol.
But slow to start this morning but got going by 9am and basically retraced my journey up. Heading back down what was the dark road I nealy crapped myself. Glad it was dark first time, because I didn't see the huge drop offs on either side of the road. The trip back saw fun, but not stopes, other than fuel and the only change was I can back via Mount Lindsay. Lot more traffic and heaps of bikes. Remarkably I only needed one file stop and one toilet stop. Bike ran like a dream all weekend, about 1400km covered and would do it all again in a heart beat.

My brother just bought one of these Alan, http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/132121447870   and I've had a look at it, just a cheap chinese burner but it works really well. I'll have to find one similar but with quicker delivery though :)

Cool Stuff Ray - Richard, Are you free...anyone else free and available... now to decide the ride- North or South, or other options.. happy for either/ either..

I am familiar with Brooms head, Has a bowls club for Chinese Dinner & takeaway beers, or could just camp... Happy to Free Camp if Preferred..

If I'm lucky, good to the wife, I might get a leave pass for 2 weekends away... The 4th  is my sons Bday so being home for that could be a nice thing..
Cheers

NotSo

Just a thought, maybe start a new topic for this planned ride.

I am up for a good ride with mates and a cheap weekend, cheap wine  :yahoo:, free camp (Wikicamps on android) as long as there are clean toilets, somewhere in SE QLD and/or Northern NSW. And the weekend of the 11th of November is looking the best for most.

Have you ordered your camping gear yet X-Ray?  :good2:
It's great to throw the leg over. :drinks:
