Hi Guys!

I was looking at my handlebar risers last night with the thought of lowering them by 1/2" or so by cutting out a piece of the stalk and re-welding back together. I had assumed they would be aluminum, but it turns out mine are magnetic!?!? This seemed way out of whack for a sport-oriented bike, even for back in the 80's.

Does anyone know if they are cast iron or forged steel? Or maybe a better question would be, are there any years that they were made of aluminum? The 84/85's maybe?

Thanks!

All FJ 1100/1200 handle bars are steel. Weight savings on these bikes took second place to robustness.

Why not just drop the front end 1\2" on the fork tubes. Same result, reverseable, can go higher or lower, takes 5 minutes, bike will handle better.
