Thanks Mark!

Progress. Plus a mate is visiting this weekend and can do my heavy lifting.

New tyres! I took Pete’s advice and went with Metzler Z8’s. I’ve changed the 180 rear to a 170 (better fit to my mod  blush),and the front was 120/70 down to 120/60.

I was not happy with the last setup & worse again, previously, they were not matching brands. Now all matches  biggrin.

One of the ‘new’ handlebars was actually more bent than what is on, so that has saved some time.

MORE FU?!!NG PLASTIC CRACKS.

BUGGER ME SENSELESS, IT NEVER ENDS!!!

The rally is close enough that I’m making some expedient choices.

I’ve a few little gremlins I fed after midnight that might hold me up so I’ve decided that any donor parts from Effie can come off at the last second. If there are major issues, Yummy sleeps at home and Effie can come and party.

My spare clutch master needs a mod, headlight as above, tank, final seat fix, (Corbin are tough cause they weigh was much as the sun!).

I think I’ve done enough plastic repair. I just can’t look at any part in bright light. You know, just in case.....

I can accept most of the wiring bits for now. Also the plastic will only be a spider web of repairs.

This weekend should be the vinegar strokes for getting Yummy road ready.

I’ll put up some shots next.

Hey Troy
I checked out my light. It seems in reasonable condition, for a 30 yo light. You have 2 options I can send it now, and you may get it next week, or I can hand it to you in person next weekend.
Your choice. If you want me to send it pm me your address

Haha, Troy's way ahead of me by the sound of it.

Troyskie, a frustrating feature of the iPhone is that pics must be taken in landscape mode in order for them to post upright online. Just a friendly tip.

Thanks Pete! I may have to take you up on that. Food and beers on me! My buddy and I have a great track record of solving the worlds problems and achieving nothing Smiley.

Rick, thank you very much. I’m sure everyone else on the forum knows this, but it is news to me. I just thought it was some weird HTML conversion whatsidoodle. Now I know my pics will be less irritating.

Now for a Haynes question. The torque for the disk nuts is listed at 20 ft lbs. I did put them on at that rate in the last build. No dramas, loctite kept them from moving but they let go pretty easily on removal, and I’m not able to put much heave-ho into things yet. I realise they’re going into a tapped cast ally thread, but it seems a low torque number to me.

Thanks Ray, very happy mate. Good therapy!

Yummy is looking rough and I've taken quite a few shortcuts and temporary fixes purely for Mudgee.

I wanted to take her for a test run yesterday, but I noticed the front tyre was on the wrong way around ireful and that meant I needed to test fit the wheel and then remove it once I had the brakes sorted (thanks again Phil!).

The tyre has been fixed today and it is a very quick job to pop it back on the bike. Being a rainy day today I'll wait till tomorrow to go for a test run.
