I'm going to go get a baseline dyno run in this afternoon, then the fun can begin.

Stockish, I'm think 90-95HP?

I'll post the graphs

Looking at the bottom line indicating tire speed prompts a question: Did you do this pull in 5th gear?

I asked because I thought 4th gear was preferable.

We did both, pretty much same results. You know I picked the highest one to post, of course. :D

He has a new dyno coming in 2 weeks. The ignition pickup would not work on my wires.

I forgot I had huge wires with heat wrap type sleeve covering that do an outstanding job....

Fun stuff, looking forward to seeing what the mods do.....

I wish I had a baseline with the stock collector box, but it is what it is......

I've had a minor setback and have not been able to do anything to the FJ.

It sat for 4 weeks, and I went out yesterday, turned the key, pulled the choke and -

It fired up immediately!

Took a short but enjoyable ride. I did run it up through the gears, 140 indicated which is probably closer to 125 in reality, but hey, nothing wrong with optimism!

Sure love that bike.......

I've not been able to do anything with the FJ for a variety of reasons (health issues, phuck cancer) but noticed something at the dealership I work at and wondered, would that work on the FJ?

It did!

Kawasaki part number 11012-1590 is a "Rear Axle Nut Cap" used on the wickedly cool Z900RS (and the Cafe version) as well as a few other models.

Retails at well under $5.00 and it slipped right on - we'll see if it stays in place....

Looks great IMHO

On a side note, I'm going to look at another FJ this weekend. Carbs off, apart but complete. It has a 4-1 head in good shape. Supposed to have a NOS tank in a box. I'll believe it when I see it.....

It's cheap - but it's rough.

The exhaust has me interested - if the lower pipes are not damaged.....

Looking forward to any/all comments on this one

Just a quick thought.... if that's supposed to be an NOS tank, why does it look like it's been repainted?

... aaannnnd what kind of front fender is that, and why is it on backwards?   :wacko3:  Inquiring minds need to know!

Will this be a resto project or just for parts?  Just getting the paint job back to a semblance of "normality" will be a task in itself.  :sarcastic:

Good luck with it. Hope you keep posting any progress .

The tank, one thing I learned a long time ago, when someone tells me they have anything new, I now consider that to mean "new to them" and not actually "NOS". I'm getting old and tired of the games - games being a nice term for ignorance....

The fender, I think it came from some old episode of "Mad Max"

The only thing I see of any value to me may be the exhaust. Other than that, the whole thing may end up on the curb.

Literally.

I would be wiling to bet the 2nd gear shift fork is bent - might be fun to take apart, but I'm not really in any position to be making any more of a mess than I already have....

I do feel this may be one of the fugliest FJ's I've ever seen.......

Picked a few parts. Grabbed the cams. I want to measure the lift for comparison to the FJ1200. Also the tank.

What brand is the 4-1 exhaust?
