Bit posh for an FJ Rally, innit?  :shok:

You can tell that I had nothing to do with organising this one.

I was told by the Australia contingent that attend the WCR that some crazy bastards would come over and Shanghai me for this rally.

To avoid being stuffed into a dog kennel for the flight over, I've decided it was in my best interest to make my own flight arrangements.

With over 225,000 miles in the bank with Untied, guess I should use them for something...

It would be really cool to meet some of our Northern Hemisphere brothers. I look forward to it. My room is all booked and the countdown is on. March will be here before we know it.

Troy, that's just shit :ireful:

+1
Can't you send the 2IC.

But maybe we'll have to sort out a Pie run up to the Oxley before then, sort of a Recon Run

Well everyone, I hate to do this but I will have to cancel my trip down for the rally.

I will be moving out of Oregon this spring and need to finish some projects on my house before getting it on the market.  Being out of town for three weeks will put me in a bind.

Will be thinking of everyone in March.  Plan on a good spot for 2020, as I will be there without fail.  I will buy the first round of drinks for everyone.  You can hold me to it.

Another rally has come and gone. I am sure there will be a few rally reports, but here is mine.
Started out on Friday with a boring and uneventful run down the highway with Trent and Bill....god I hate highways, except the Oxley highway, on which the rally was run.
we headed up the Oxley toward the Mount Seaview resort and got a small taste of what the rally ride would have in stall for us. I must say I was really looking forward to it.
We found out accomodation with quite a few riders already there, said our hello's and went looking for a drink. There seemed to be good turnout with a lot of familiar faces and a few new ones too.
Dinner was had, stories told and drinks flowed freely ( but not cheaply)

Saturday came around with a group breakfast and then the line up for photos. 27 FJ's lined up, 1 FJR and we had 2 or 3 ring in bikes. A really good showing. Not quite a record but close to it.
After the photos we were off. and the road....WOW 300 corners to our first stop at Gingers Cafe. What a beautiful stretch of bituman. Time for a coffe break then off again to our next stop at the Walcha Royal Cafe. and other 300 or so corners.
Had lunch then to head back, with a quick look at Apsley falls, which unfotunatley weren't running beacuse of the drought. But it is still an impressive sight.
back on the road and its about 100km back to base, half of which is tight twisty stuff. I love this road.

On return to camp i was talking to Captian Ron, our special guest for the event, who put it into one of his top 5 all time rides.
Dinner and special awards plus the infamous Aussie FJ Rally Chook Raffle. The winner of the Chook ( Rubber Squeaky Chicken) must display the chook on their bike for the return journey, with photographic evidence.
Much merriment was had and there were a few slow starters the next morning, myself included.
Loaded up the old bike and headed off back up the awesome Oxley Highway, where we had ridden the day before. A bit gentler pace this time. Got to Walcha and turned right to head home. I decided on a bit more of adventure on the way with a stop in a national park to check out the view from the look out. Just didn't know about the 15km of dirt road to reach it. Worth the effort though.

Here a few pictures from the day. Most are mine, but a few were stolen (borrowed) from other happy snappers. And I do have some video which i am up loading to You Tube to come.
