Hello,
I have a 93 FJ1200
It is time for new tires on the FJ and as I have seen posted several times and noticed when looking for tires, they choices are very limited with the 16" back rim.
So I was hoping someone has a 17" wheel setup with all the needed parts sitting around they want to get rid of. I have no machine stop or real desire to fabricate anything so hoping for the GXSR rim, chrush drive master cylinder and brake caliper ect

thanks

Get the '91 GSXR wheel. No machining of any kind is necessary. Try to find the entire wheel, with disc, caliper, torque arm, spacers, bearings, etc.

Try this

Thanks for the reply and link! .
I looked and did not see this.

I sent a message to the seller asking if they have the rest of this.

It will need to be painted but small detail.

Check the pdf file attached to the first post in this thread for some good instructions. You'll need several large fender washers for spacers.

well I went with a new set of tires and was going to put this on the back burner. After I got them, woodcreekpete in Canada contacted me with a GSXR wheel with spacers, modified caliper mount and all the parts to make this work.
SO... Parts found...
Thank you all.

You're gonna LOVE it!  Take a look at fabricating some new dog bones to get the ass up in the air a tad. Go with 115mm center-to-center length. It makes a wonderful difference in turn-in handling.

I will have to look into this. Thank you for the tip. any help with handling I love. going straight is not for me.
And while I am at it, what about rear sprocket? with the 17" what sprocket would bring it to about stock?

The 16 & 17" work out to be much the same OD, certainly for the sake of gearing.

I use Gearing Commander (link below) Paul, it's a great tool for looking at the effect of sprocket changes and wheel/tyre changes  on a huge range of bikes - especially useful for seeing the rpm/speed impact of sprocket swaps on the FJ, which can carry much taller gearing for more relaxed high speed cruising.

My combination of 170/60 x 17 tyre, reduces the wheel circumference very slightly, but I'm running 18:38 sprockets. This means I'm running 4000 rpm at about 72-73 mph - just right for our motorways/ main roads - and it doesn't make the bike struggle in first gear on pulling away.

I love that. what a simply site. It will make choosing gearing super easy and really like you combo. 91 mph at 5K. just about right...
I do tend to shift into 5th about 2-3 times... feels like it needs a 6th.

Get the 18 tooth front sprocket from RPM, and match it to a 40 tooth rear. Perfect.

Also, look up my gear indicator mod. It'll keep you from trying to find 6th...

I also use the 18t/38t sprocket combo. The rear sprocket is noticeably smaller than the OEM 40t sprocket. I like the fact that the engine RPM's are below 5000rpm at Highway speeds. Never had any issues with pulling away from a stop. With the sprocket change and reduction in RPM's, I have found the instances of searching for 6th gear has been greatly diminished.

The shift indicator is a brilliant mod. Love it. The idea of using the tack is great.

Jeff told me to go to Rebel Gears to get a sprocket if I wanted one less than 42 tooth.
I emailed them the year of the rim part number of the stock one and the tooth count I was looking for.
Before I got home they called and said no problem. 62.00 and take 2 days. Wow great service and shockingly easy.

This should be easy winter project for me.
Thank to everyone.

Paul,

If you go for a 41 tooth rear sprocket, the bike will be revving higher than standard at any given road speed. This seems the opposite of what you were wanting to do ?

Is that $62 for the sprocket ? - Seems expensive compared to what we pay here.
