For all you speedfreaks.  Got this from an email from my brother in Virginia last night.

This guy's shop is here in Newport News and the first cousin of a buddy I work with. Took a little tour of the little shop he has. Pretty cool setup and there had to be a dozen getupandgo bikes that were being worked on. The brothers here like there hayabusa's with N20 and an extra 3 feet of swing arm.

It was supposed to be just a test session.

Have you thought of the G forces involved?

When you have a custom molded car seat to support your body weight and spread the loads at those high G's...that is much different than when you lay down on a thin motorcycle seat and the G forces go to your tailbone.

Thanks Paul!

Pat,

When you have big brass balls like he does, there's no problem.  :sarcastic:   I can't imagine riding a bike like that.

Been by that shop a few times - pretty low key - like the best shops in my opinion!  Not much out for show - and not much I remember really indicating they were the top of the heap in motorcycle drag racing.

Awesome run!

I go to the Man Cup finals every November. It's great as I meet up with friends from all over the country. You have to see (and hear) Top Fuel bikes to believe them. Nothing like a side by side pass with both bikes running tip top. Vantine set a personal best that weekend too.

Interesting you noticed that. Top Fuel guys have started to lay the exhaust pipes down (as opposed to previously installing them in a more vertical position). Reason is they can help provide more forward thrust. Crazy stuff.

Great piece of trivia.

All the top bikes run engines built by Puma Engineering.  These are 1585cc inline 4s, 82mm bore x 75 mm stroke.

The bore spacing is 93 mm.  It was taken from....the FJ1200.
