Hi all, hope someone can help me, I have a FJ1200 1986 1TX which unfortunatly snapped a chain and wreck the lower 2 casings, anyway long story short, I have an engine or lower engine everything bar the barrells and head, its off a FJ1200 1991 3XW , there are a few differences but one has me confused, the coil pick up has 3 wires on my bike but this newer engine it has only 2 wires.
I can see a difference in the parts from yamaha websites but can i use my coil pick up in the newer engine? the plug is different also?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, you will have to...your 1986 TCI ignition box will not work with the 1991 coil pick up.

An option would be to convert to the aftermarket Dyna 2000 ignition.
