Good afternoon everyone.  Jim Richardson here, motorcycle enthusiast, RC Pilot, retired CSM.  Bought my FJ right off the floor in 1986, sold it in 1996 for a VF750f, just picked a non op 86 from a friend for 250$.  Carbs are at RPM, tank is getting cleaned up, fuel sensor and petcock are on the way,  after getting the grime off, and stripping it down, hacking of the 1980something Vance and Hines, this is what we have. As soon as I get it running we will go from there...BTW Robert from RPM is the man!!!

Hello Jim, welcome back...we hear often about previous FJ owners returning to the fold.
Carson City Paul and Travis (T Legg) will chime in shortly, they are also FJ owners in your area.
You are in good hands with RPM.

Cheers,

Pat

Welcome to the forum Jim,
Your post cheered me up this morning after waking up to the new reality of the stay at home order. Covid19 will free up time for me to work on my 84 FJ and your post reminded me cleaning the tank is a good place to start since we can't go riding anyway.
I'm really enjoying following the recent Resto projects on the forum and looking foreward to see how yours unfold.  Your freind must have owed you a big favor for letting you have it for $ 250 because it cleaned up nice. Must have been garaged. Do you have a before pic ? And does the odo read only 7800 miles? To blurry to see. Anyway it's a steal and I'm jealous. Wish I had friends like that. He must have introduced you to your wife or something in that category.  Regardless you earned it getting the old girl back in action.
Cheers, Hans
