Gas tank question

When we look under the gas tank there's a kind of fitting in the middle of the tank. There was nothing on this fitting when I took the bike apart. I wonder what is its use?

On the parts diagram, I can't see any hose going at this place.

I believe it goes to the emission "charcoal" canister on models that were so equipped?
"California" versions in the states had it. Other countries might have as well?

Since Firehawk068 is not sure about that, can someone confirm this?

Thanks Fireawk068!

The nipple on the tank IS for the emissions that were part of the California specific models.

If you peel back the heat shield, you will see that it is actually a valve. A hose attaches to it the goes to a T fitting then hoses go to the Charcoal canisters. Look at #29 and #36 in the drawing.

No worries!
It looked like a "California" spec tank to me, but I saw you were from Quebec. Didn't know for sure if Canada got emission equipment or not?

Here in Quebec, I think we don't have the emission equipment. At least I don't have it on my bike. Maybe all gas tank are the same but the fitting is only realy used in California.
