Another American treasure gone. I sure enjoy his music.

Do you have a favorite John Prine song? What makes it a favorite?

For me, just one of his many, is Humidity Built the Snowman, on the Lost Dogs album.
"I don't think that you know, that I think that you don't know..."

Another song, Hello in There, off his first album I first heard when I was 18....I couldn't  relate, I didn't understand.
Today, at 68, retired with an empty nest, the song I can now relate. Funny how that works.

Thank you Pat for posting this.
I had no idea who John Prine was until you posted about him.
What a big loss. That man could really move your soul.

I must live in a cave as I have never heard of this guy.

I remember in 1971 John was the first artist to come out in public and tell the tale about injured veteran's and their addiction to heroin. Their families never talked about it ....as in hush, hush.
Of course, the VA knew all about it, but the public did not.

It was a ballsy move on John's part, invoked lots of hatred, but it opened up an honest national conversation on a subject that was previously swept under the rug.

We've been blessed and have seen him in person a few times.

Most recently, last year at the Roots and Blues and BBQ 3 day festival in Columbia, MO.

It was memorable, because John seemed happier than ever. He even danced a little jig during his set.

He played this one, from his heart, at that show.

Sam Stone is amazing, as mentioned. "There's a whole in Daddy's arm where all the money goes".

Humbling, so sad to know he's gone, so blessed he was here.......

Very cool pictures, thanks Steve.

My pleasure, he's greatly missed.

Here is a video of him performing here last year.

As in the other pictures, note the background - The Tree of Life.
