FJ1100 Rear Suspension - Assembly

I am about to refit rear suspension I have overhauled, including new rear shock and swing arm. I'm wanting to make the procedure as simple and straightforward as possible, so, are there items I can pre-assemble like linkages, swing arm, etc. before fitting and is there a recommended  order to put it all back in the frame? Does the shock go back in last? Any tips? Thanks.
Also, I was thinking of using a marine grade grease where required or trailer wheel bearing grease. Suggestions?

Yes, be sure to remember to put the chain on the counter shaft sprocket BEFORE you reinstall the swing arm and back tire.....

I DID make sure the chain was on the drive sprocket. After the bike was assembled I notice the chain hanging down where I did not put it on the back sprocket.   :dash2:

Hang the top run of your chain up to frame near battery first. As others have said "don't ask"
Definitely the front linkage on motor needs to be bolted on first.
You could put rear linkage on swing arm and then fit the swing arm remembering it goes in above and then lever it down to line up bolt. (also my service manual has the bolts backward, I loosened of the right side bracket not the left)
Now you can fit shock top bolt (if you fitted it first, you would have problems getting your swing arm in)
Now Enjoy slipping that pin through linkages and shock.

Thanks all. I was aware of the chain/swing arm situation. Sometime next week I will be dismantling the rear suspension of the bike into which the overhauled parts will be placed. I'll take a bit more notice in how it comes apart than I did when removing the parts from the donor bike.

I use a waterproof marine grease for suspension linkages. A synthetic grease or something from a brand like Bel-ray or Maxima might work better but as long as it is decent quality waterproof grease I have never had an issue.

Yes, did this as recently as November last year  :unknown:, I did realise before I got the back wheel on though  :sorry:
