'84 FJ1100 - no power/run, off idle
« on: September 16, 2020, 01:07:47 PM »

First time starting this year. Ran good last year. Starts fine, choke works good, settles to idle after warm.  Shift into 1st gear, bogs when letting clutch out.  If I pull the clutch back in with throttle, it will continue running.  Throttle seems to work normal.  Ruined my day for a ride!!

What's most likely cause for me to work on?

Thx guys.

Plugged idle jets. I run my bike at least once a month to prevent this.

Thx for the response.
How to fix? Can I dump suitable carb cleaner into tank?
Never had this problem in all the years I've owned the FJ.

I have had some luck with seafoam. If the jets are partially blocked it may help. If they are fully blocked then they need to be removed and given a proper cleaning.

When I used the Seafoam I went for a long ride. I used the choke to keep the engine running. I ran a gear or two lower to keep the throttle in the position that uses the main jets so I could take the choke off at speed. Then I let heat and time do its job. I have also had this not work and pulled the carbs to clean them.
