Too bad you weren't 2,500 miles closer . I would have been happy to help figure out your no spark problem. The mechanic you used should have been able to find the problem. I have figured out how to easily test the TCI without swapping in a known good one. I had one no spark problem that was just the kill switch being dirty. It would read twelve volts to the coils but as soon as a load was put on it the voltage would drop due to the dirty connection. There are a lot of simple things that can cause the problem.
