FrankAerdt

Hi all, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Frank, living in Aerdt, small village (pop 850) in the east of the Netherlands, near the German border.
Born in '59, just started my second motorlife! Children left the house, more time for other things, like motorcycling  :good2:.
In the past I drove some bikes, starting in '78 with a Kawa Z650F (2x), then Kawa Z750E, Kawa Gpz550, Kawa Z1000J, and the last four years in my first motorlife a Yamaha XJ900.
Done a lot of touring (2up) with this bike, have seen almost every country in Europe. Best time in that period  :good:.
Then, buying a house, other jobs, children, I'm sure you recognize this... . So about twenty-five years later, it's time to do the smart thing. I bought myself a Yamaha FJ 1200 (1990, Canadian-import, almost 50k).
First I did was getting a member of the FJ_Forum in the Netherlands, and a week later member of the International FJowners Forum.
There is a lot of knowledge here, and I'm sure RPM will have a new customer  .
The bike is in good condition (new chain and sprockets, new tires), but I will start to get it technical 100%. So valve-check, cleaning of carbs, new rear-spring (got a fresh one from the last owner), front-spring etc. And of course there will other things come up in the process.
So, if I have questions I will first do a good search, and otherwise I'm sure someone will have the answer. See you around! :bye: :bye: (sorry if my English is not perfect, my Dutch is better).

Welcome Frank, happy you join us. How much modification from OEM is permitted in the Netherlands? The FJ can be modernized and greatly improved with modifications.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Thank you everbody for the warm welcome! :good2: :good2:
I'm sure this is the place to be for FJ-'s.

@FJmonkey: Overall no problem for modifications in the Netherlands, if you use safe and homologated parts. To much noise is also not allowed. So improvements (Blue Spot brakes, 17 inch rear, LED-lights etc) are ok.
@TomJK: Fijn om te horen dat er iemand in de buurt zit.. I will contact you this summer. And for the parts.... If I need something I will pb you :bye:
