Just curious, has anyone ever tried putting calipers from an 84-86 onto an 89?

Just looking for alternatives to the FZ1 swap that might not require changing out the master cylinder.

I think the bolt pattern is different and or the position is wrong with the rotor. I used Blue dots with the FJ master with no problems.
The glass is not half full, it was engineered with a 2X safety factor.

Yes, you've got it Monkey  :good2:, 84-86 calipers have different bolt spacing to the 88 onwards (3CV and 3XW) FJ's.

The blue dots work with the FJ master cylinder no problem, but if you want realise the FULL improvement in performance and control, then a matching master cylinder is the way to go.

I got a set of calipers, a master, and brake lines for $75.  Last time this came up there were several at a similar price. The MC is also an easy swap and your brakes will be awesome.
