Devil's Highway Rt 666 (191) August 14th Arizona
« on: July 28, 2010, 12:54:32 AM »

Calling all AZ FJ's........I am doing this ride regardless, and I think Richard is in also.......any other takers?
Highway 191. Old Rt 666  diablo
http://www.meetup.com/Moto-Sport-Riders-of-Phoenix/calendar/13991096/
Here's your chance to ride curves till you puke!  bad
Hopefully not, but should be a fun-filled day.

I drove this route in my Firehawk about 5 years ago, and was an absolute Blast of a road.....It will not dissapoint!
A word of caution though.......This loop will take most of the day, so be prepared for long hours in the saddle...........There will most likely be various animals that could possibly cross and/or stand in the road.....These could include squirrells, coyotes, elk, deer, turkeys, wolf, cows, bears and skunks.........although I am quite certain that any of these would be terribly afraid of a group of bikes buzzing past.....nonetheless......it's one of the dangers of this route......
It will also be quite warm until we get up into the high country, so plan to keep hydrated.....
Also, on the loop back to Phoenix, if anyone has not ridden it yet, the Salt river canyon is not to be missed!!

Saturday August 14th.......If you plan to come along, show up well rested  morning1
anyone coming from out of town can crash at my place Friday night, and/or Saturday night although all I can offer you is a couch....and maybe a few beers afterwards  drinks

Alan,

Looks like it'll be a fun ride.  Sorry I won't be able to join in.

Looks like a great ride.  Consider this; not everyone, in fact comparitively few folks have such good riding to do without long droning rides to get there, in some cases, for many days.

Have fun, and appreciate what you've got there.

Live hardy, or go home.  Note: There is a reasonable chance, that Klavdy will find, and point out something amiss with my spelling. This is important to him and I do not mind making him feel better about himself.

Yes, I agree.
I meant this as mainly a call out to get some of the members here in Arizona to join me..........but if anyone wants to join from further.......the more, the merrier!
I hear you are heading up into NY for a ride soon? I've spent many a mile in the Adirondaks, but have not been up there for about 10 years, so i couldn't tell you what has changed since then. or any construction backups you may incur.........but you're in for some spectacular scenery, and some great riding roads.
If your route takes you toward Lake Placid, a ride up Whiteface Mt. was always one of my favorite destinations. You can see clear into NH. to Mt. Washington from up there.
Have fun, and stay safe  hi
