Ah yes, thanks Fred. That is the main reason for putting these in stock, so you can use the fork protectors with the fork brace  :Facepalm:

On a side note I found a photo in a Suzuki service manual of an actual "suck test" being performed. Actually, this is the blow test, but photo looks accurate.

Curious about the pod filters Robert - what jetting changes do you recommend, or are they compatible with standard jetting?

The majority of people find adjusting the main jet needle up with a shim and going up one main jet size sufficient, when going away form the air box, unless you're doing other things like adding exhaust or timing, etc.

Main Jet Needle Shim Kit
Mikuni Carb Main Jets

You also need the filter the crankcase vent hose that goes to the bottom of the air box to keep debris from getting in the crankcase after removing air box.
