No worries today, I also carry a battery jumper pack. It's also great for re-charging my cell and Sena.
This little dude is powerful. It jump started my wife's GMC Yukon 5.3L 4x4.
Excellent tip, Pat. I bought one of these from RPM last year, and I used it 4 times on a recent trip (I knew I had a weak battery when I left). Never would have occurred to me that I could run my portable compressor off it, too.

I'm not sure about running the compressor off the battery pack. (I don't have a compressor yet)
Although, it will certainly jump start my bike if I run the FJ battery down when using a compressor.

I'm curious, has anyone tried running a compressor off a jump pack?

I have been told the #1 reason battery packs go bad is they are not designed for continuous voltage output. They are not designed to run an engine with out a battery or I would presume run the compressor.

I had a couple of units I sent back over the past couple of years and both claims were denied because they said the unit was used as a constant output battery source.

They are "jumper" batteries and not for constant voltage supply for significant consumption. Yes, you can use them to charge milliampere devices like your phone or Sena, but not to run high ampere demand things like a motorcycle or car electrical system.

Just curious but why wouldn't you run the engine, and thus the charging system, while powering a compressor off the battery?  I'm not knowledgeable about how long it takes to overheat a FJ engine at idle.

I would definitely run the engine while running the pump. The five or so minutes it would take to inflate a tire wouldn't be a heat issue unless you were stuck on a very hot day. Even then, I doubt it would be an issue.

I don't know Joe.
How long does it take the new compressors to inflate a 180/55-17 rear tire?
Like Rick said, hot summer day, heat soaked engine, how long should I idle my 1380?

At idle the alternator wouldn't be charging the battery anyway, you'd need at least 1500rpm upwards to start charging, at least mine does.

Too young to be old but old enough to know better.

I saw Randy using a voltmeter on Ryan's bike a week ago.  I suppose that's something I should do as well.  Not only to check charging voltage but it's a good idea to know at what rpm the alternator starts charging at.

2018 is just about over and 2019 is right around the corner.

I have been going through some of the inventory and have decided to have a Inventory Reduction Sale on some items. While these items sold very well initially, they have not sold lately. So, I have dropped the price on the following items so I can make room for new inventory.

Noco Genius G1100 Battery Charger
Noco Genius G3500 Battery Charger
Noco Genius G750 Battery Charger
Soft-Tye Down Straps
EBC Brake Rotor
41mm Fork Seal Driver
18 LED Turn Signal Lights
EBC X Brake Rotor
KOSO Apollo Heated Handle Bar Grips (I will have a write up on these and more next week)
Fork Level Gauge
Motorcycle Brake Caliper Tool
Motorcycle Wheel Bearing Remover Set
Grunge Brush Cleaning Pack
Drive Chain Master Link Pliers
Safety Wire Pliers - 7"
FLO Stainless Steel Canister Filter

Now, just because I am taking these parts out of my stocking inventory, I will still be able to get them in just a couple of days if anyone needs them.

Every FJ motorcycle should have a set of these tucked away in their cowl, or they do lay nice and flat over the back fender...

I received an email this morning advising the United States Postal Service 2019 shipping rates go into effect on January 27th. I did not see where the cost of anything decreased.

So, you might take advantage of the lower shipping rates before they change.
