Hi all,

I had a little accident and I need to replace one of these on the right side of the bike. Has anyone got one they want to sell or maybe have a link to a retailer that may be more affordable than this piece? Location Australia, but happy to pay for postage.

You can use the left on the right but the angle will be different. The right sides have been discontinued for some years now. We bought all the were left from Yamaha a few years ago. You may be able to find some if you have a dealer willing to search all the Yammy dealerships in AU but there are no new ones being made from Yamaha.

Some of the discontinued vintage motorcycle parts can get expensive. Buy them while you can, because if the price seems high now, it will probably only go up.

I've sold thousands of NOS parts online, and the prices, at auction, never ceased to amaze me.

I once saw $750.00 for a kick start lever assembly! It was for a 1972 Kawasaki H2.

A side cover decal for a 1960's Kawasaki W2SS brought $165.00 plus shipping to Japan. Boxed. That was another $25.00 or so if I remember right.

Good luck!

Robert,

Sorry that I can't be any direct help there, but this is the kind of product that would be a good 3-D printer project.  Once the item is scanned in, it is easy for a computer to make "mirror image" copies, for left and right sides.  I haven't done any 3-D printing yet, but once we replace our inept USA leadership and beat the Covid-19 mess we are in now, I can probably do that stuff at the local public library.  You may have better luck with 3-D printing, there.  HTH.

P.S. Life is too short, and health is too valuable, to ride on cheap parade-duty tires.

Which side? I've got 4 lefts and 1 right.

Okay now, on the right! You can have it for the shipping. PM your address.  Pete

My kids have 3D printers.  One of my kids is studying mechanical engineering and has CAD on his computer.  If he had one he could probably model it.  He is moving into his apartment this Thursday though and may be busy.  But, if anybody has a trashed one they want to send, I'll ask if he is interested in modeling it.

He also does some 3D printing. You will see if you click on his link in the post what he's done.  He has printed the later model protectors. Throw him a PM maybe he could help.  He's in Alberta,  CAN.

Yep, my kid printed a right hand side protector for my '89 using his files.  Unfortunately his printer only does 5x5" so he had to print it in two parts.

It is going away, as it would have, anyway. A simple fact, seldom noted, is common flu kills 65,000-90,000 souls every year-and there is a vaccine for flu.
The same people with the same co-morbidity issues tend to be affected.

I love a quote from Low Dog. "Today, is a great day to die. Follow me". He didn't die that day, as a 14 year old Oglala war chief, but George Armstrong Custer had a bad day.

But Low Dog was ready to.

Hey, me too.

Glad to help you out - too bad you didn't see fit to send me the shipping!
