side panel broken tab repair

Thought I would share this in case anyone else runs across this.
When I removed the side panels to remove the gas tank, half of the locating tab on one panel fell on the floor.

I repaired it using a piece of an abs handle I got with my garage doors. It was in my "may need that some day" pile.

This pic is of the other tab that wasn't broken. The other one broke just about where the leading edge of the piece I glued on is.
Considering the age of the side panels I thought re enforcing it before it breaks would be a good idea.
I used abs black plastic cement.

I like the reinforcing idea. Good work.

If you're stuck you can also use PVC solvent cement on ABS. Make sure to prime it first in either case.

I lost my broken bit, so I cut down a 20mm pvc saddle and either screwed or pop riveted it on
